French Thompson & Peter Schmid Win Second Award For Lady Gaga Earrings

On July 2, 2021 the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) hosted their prestigious Spectrum AwardsTM ceremony, presenting French Designer Jeweler of Scottsdale, AZ and jewelry designer Peter Schmid with their second award for their one of a kind “Lady Gaga Metropolitan Gala” earrings.  The earrings are available for purchase here.

Inspired by Lady Gaga’s gold tinsel and bejeweled eyelashes and bright pink gown at the 2019 Met Gala, the earrings have now taken home two of the jewelry industry’s highest awards.  This last November they were announced winner of the AGTA Spectrum 2020 award for Best of Fashion Forward Design and this latest, the 2021 Buyer’s Choice Award.  Both awards are unique to the AGTA as they are not category specific but instead are awards chosen from all entries in every category, making the competition that much steeper. The one-of-a-kind-design, named “Lady Gaga Metropolitan Gala” earrings or “Gaga for the Met” earrings were hand crafted in 18k and 22k yellow gold with a pair of elongated pear-shape

 Rubellite Tourmalines of 10.01cttw set opposite a pair of Santa Maria Africana, Nigeria, unheated Aquamarines of 2.31cttw and accented with 0.70cttw white diamonds.  The gemstones were sourced from AGTA members, all of whom adhere to responsible sourcing guidelines, and the earrings were created with 80% recycled gold.

This is the second AGTA Spectrum AwardTM collaboration for French Thompson and Peter Schmid and both designs have walked away with awards.
