About Jeff And Susan Wise

Working in a shared studio in Durango, Colorado, Jeff Wise sculpts, his wife Susan paints, and they collaborate on jewelry, which uses their gifts for structure and color in thrilling, new ways.

Jeff was Susan’s teacher, their jewelry work being quite technical, and the learning curve pretty steep, patience from both of them was very important. With a similar aesthetics they were able to work through the design process as a team. They’re both always learning from each other. Susan often has a simpler aesthetic so she functions as the idea editor, while Jeff is the whiz at solving technical issues.

The Jewelry

Their jewelry is a sculpture in a diminutive scale whose full significance is revealed when it is worn on the body. We make bold, dynamic forms that create a bridge between shapes whose roots are organic and those which are based more on architecture and geometry. They embrace the challenge of making work which is light and comfortable, yet powerful in scale and concept.
