About Carolyn Tyler
For Carolyn Tyler, gemstones collecting is a passion. She prefers to use gems that possess special qualities of light reflection and refraction, ancient coins and South Sea pearls in her one-of-a-kind creations.
Her designs are heavily inspired by nature, mythology, art, music, and dance. Her background in archaeology and anthropology is portrayed through her jewelry via themes from ancient civilizations and tribal art symbols.
She uses ancient goldsmithing techniques like granulation, filigree, and repousse. Her pieces are suggestive of buried treasure fables from the Golden Ages. She has a preference for working with 18-24 karat gold which gives this jewelry an unusual luster, weight, and lasting value.
The Jewelry
Carolyn uses 100% recycled gold (known as eco-gold because no new mining is required to produce it) to hand-fabricate her designs. She regularly uses sterling silver, precious, and semi-precious gemstones in her pieces. Some of her designs use antique beads and ancient coins from Europe and Asia. Others incorporate unusual collector's gems, fossilized mammoth ivory carvings, or rare pearls of extraordinary color.
